# Auto Update Failed

 * I just attempted to update to the new 3.9 version. I got a bunch of warnings 
   that the copy function of some file has failed. The installation terminated and
   now I’m stuck and can not use anything. I’m afraid that I will have to reinstall
   everything. See the code below:

 * Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 * This kind of thing usually happens because of a permission problem on a directory
   or a specific file.
 * You can “usually” (9 times out of 10) resolve the failed installation by doing
   a manual update.
 * So you have to use FTP to get to the back end. If you haven’t alrady, take steps
   to do a backup including MySQL database and at the very least backup the wp-config.
   php file which is in the root directory of the WordPress install.
 * You can find instructions for the manual update on [this page](https://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress).

 * Yes, I have checked your issue. Due to incomplete update, some files are not 
   updated currently. That’s why it is giving error.
 * Generally, it is occurred due to following reason.
    - File permission issues
    - Network/internet speed
 * Just upload below files of wp 3.9
 * wp-includes
    wp-admin and all php file which are on the root of the site except
   wp-config.php and .htaccess
