  • This fix is amazing. ^^^

I just replaced the auto-tag.class.php file in your second link with the one in my auto-tag folder and it fixed everything. Thanks so much.

    Hi Beer,

Thanks for the fix. It worked.

Thanks for the share.. this did the trick..

Thanks for this easy fix. I just copied the code and pasted over the code in my auto tags class file and ran the re-tagging tool. No more error warnings! Thanks again for this totally awesome fix that works. Sweeeet 😛

Before I noticed this thread, I created a version of the plugin that works with Zemanta to get the tags.

You need to get a free API key and put it into the Auto Tag settings, but it seems to work pretty well.

Grab it here if you are interested 🙂

@daverage Does this have the @beer hook?

Is there any possibility that this fork will be merged into the original plugin or could become a plugin of it’s own? I manage dozens of WordPress sites, so making the fix manually is highly impractical.

I agree with @djmadeira. A copy of the fully working plugin would be great or maybe rebrand it under your name. You could even create a pro version to get tags from multiple locations. So in the future is one source fails, the others will continue to generate tags

@beer your fix worked for me too. Thanks for the effort.
I am not sure how it used to work before but it currently tags only 5 posts. Also would it skip posts which have been tagged in the past. Anyone have any ideas?

I have been using https://wordpress.org/plugins/web-ninja-auto-tagging-system/ which had those features “while it worked”

I’ll try to find time to get something going with this. I’m not a fan of using SVN which is required by WordPress plugin repository.

I never use the WP repository, or anything else on wp.org or .com. Use github; less hassle (no WP authoritarians) that try to moderate and run everything.

Beer, I have employed a developer to fix the web ninja plugin. I found the web ninja to work a lot better than the auto-tag plugin. Especially web ninja works with Wpematico. So if you plan to get contributors to help with this web ninja plugin updates let me know and I send you the working zip file once the developer has completed coding/etsting. If not, no worries

The reason Ninja doesn’t work is because it tries to tag at the wrong place in the posting process, thus it won’t work with many of the autoposters.
Strickly autotags does, BTW, but gets its taxonomy internally, not from an external source.
