Support » Fixing WordPress » auto-suggest plugin

  • Hello

I’m using Buddypress to make a website community.

When users register, they are forced to complete their profile (thanks to the BuddyPress Profile Completion plugin).

When they have to complete one of the x profile field, I would like they are automatically suggested the other values already completed by other users resgitered before them. When they type for example “P A R”, if an other user has already registered with the value “PARIS”, so PARIS is automatically suggested to complete the field. If there is no matches, then the new user completes with a new value.

I think it is easy to do with php code but i’dont cope with it at all. Do you know a plugin to help me with that issue ? Or maybe a native feature of wordpress ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Fabien

  • Hi Fabien,

That definitely sounds like a great idea to improve your user experience. I’m not sure it’s a native WordPress feature, but there may be a Form plugin that can support auto-suggest (or auto-complete).

Try looking into Contact Form 7 to start: https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/

@kartiks16 previously found this solution for someone with a similar question:

Now if you wish to have a logged in user data to be pre-filled, you can do that via this reference link.

Let me know if any of these work for you.

    Hello @laurlittle

My problem is that I use Geo my Wp plugin. So, I am forced to use the native WP register form. If I don’t, i can’t display correctly the geolocation xprofile field generated with Geo my WP in my profile.

So, I can’t use contact form 7 or any other register form plugin.

Iy you have an other idea 🙂

    Thanks foy your reply !
