    Thanks

    Hello @lxb520

I suggest installing the WP Mail Logging plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-logging/ as it logs which mail goes through and is helpful in determining where the issue is coming from. I’d recommend placing a test order after installing it, and see if the log shows that a duplicate email is sent – if it does show a duplicate email, that indicates the issue is somewhere in WordPress/WooCommerce. If it doesn’t show a duplicate email, it indicates the issue is on the server/delivery side.

Let us know how it goes!

OK, thank you, but not now, currently I used some codes to put all order on hold first, after that, then I would just process the order manually at backend, I saw it only send one email, not extra emails by manually processing order at backend, BTW, I also found my SMTP log, here is the screenshot for your reference. I use Fluent SMTP: https://wordpress.org/plugins/fluent-smtp/

do you have other suggestions or keep letting me install the WP mail logging plugin to test again?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi @lxb520,

Since you’re already using Fluent SMTP and have access to the SMTP log, you can use it to trace the source of the duplicate emails. Check the log to identify if the same email is sent multiple times from your website. If so, the issue might be related to your WooCommerce or WordPress setup.

If the log shows only one email being sent, but the customer receives multiple emails, then the issue might be on the server side or with the email delivery service.

The WP Mail Logging plugin suggested earlier could still be useful as it provides a more detailed log and could help further pinpoint the issue.

Please let us know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

    Hi there,

thank you so much, I just took a look of the log, it sent only one email, but customer received 2 emails with same content. how do I figure it out.

another issue, normally when I receive a new order, the system should just send 2 emails, one is to customer, another is to me. why currently my backend sent another email to customer (subject: note added to…..) ? see the photo here please. what make this kind issue happened?

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi @lxb520

I just took a look of the log, it sent only one email, but customer received 2 emails with same content. how do I figure it out.

There could be a few reasons why the customer is receiving duplicate emails. It could be due to a plugin conflict, a server issue, or a problem with your email provider. I suggest disabling all plugins except WooCommerce and Fluent SMTP to troubleshoot and see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, reactivate your plugins one by one until you find the culprit.

The additional email sent to the customer with the subject “note added to…” is typically triggered when a note is added to the order in the backend and the “Customer note” is selected. If you don’t want the customer to receive these emails, make sure to change this to a private note when adding notes to orders.

    Hi there,

thank you, regarding the issue “note added email”, I never added a note to customer or do any setting in backend for orders. why does this still happened to me?

    Hello @lxb520,

If you’ve never added a customer note or made any changes in the backend for orders, this is indeed unusual. There could be a plugin or code snippet that automatically adds notes and triggers these emails.

I suggest you temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme like Storefront and disable all plugins except WooCommerce to see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, reactivate your plugins one by one to identify the culprit. You can find a more detailed explanation of conducting a conflict test here.

Please let us know how it goes. We’re here to assist you further if needed.
