Hello Alex,

I know this is slightly off-topic but do you know a way to automatically remove HTML Link Tags from Author Bio Box? I will be doing a website where contributors will be able to post their own content and it will be too easy for spammers to add <a href="/spam/">spam</a> and gain a backlink… I guess you can imagine…

I’ve been searching all the wp plugin directory and the web for a working custom hack, I’m really surprised that there’re no solutions for moderating the Biographical Info or stripping any backlink attempt…

The only solution I found is to completely disable the Biographical Info… But I still want the contributors to be able to display their Author Bio…

Any ideas would be really welcomed!

Hi!

Try to add this in your child theme’s functions.php:
```
add_filter( ‘pre_user_description’, ‘wp_filter_nohtml_kses’);
```

Thanks for this code snippet Alex,
But unfortunately it’s not working… I don’t know the reason why…

I was finally able to find another way around this by using the code below:
```
add_filter( 'get_the_author_description', 'remove_html_link' );
function remove_html_link($link) {
$end = preg_replace('#<a.*?>.*?</a>#i', '', $link);
return $end;
}
```
