[resolved] Auto Messages media embed code incompatible with Chrome (8 posts)

We're trying to deploy Auto Messages with embedded videos, and they work like a charm in Firefox and Safari, but in Chrome, end-users wind up seeing the raw HTML. Anyone seeing anything like this with this plugin?

In what way are you trying to display the videos? shortcode? iframe? straight youtube url?

Google may be preventing such a thing for security reasons, but I can't confirm right yet.

We're working with Vine embed codes.

    Something like this? https://vine.co/v/bjHh0zHdgZT/embed

I can't help but believe it's a javascript issue there, which we may or may not be able to prevent.

I know I have a "3rd party" solution for images posted on the Auto Messages forum at badgeos.org, but I don't believe I have one for vine embeds. If this is still proving an issue that needs resolved, I can give it a try.

    Hi Michael,

We're particularly interested in embedding Vines with Auto Messages because of the way they can contribute to a storyline without getting in the way of the overall narrative. In other words, yes please :)

For the sake of safety with getting this working, I'm going to turn this into a custom plugin that you can easily install.

http://cl.ly/0q3e3U3j040l <---zip file with the plugin.

This plugin will provide not one, but TWO shortcodes to be used. I decided to throw in the image one I did for a different person wanting embed functionality.

    Image embed:
    [automessage_image_embed src="http://www.domain.com/some-image-file.jpg"]

You provide the image source for the shortcode, it outputs an <img> tag with the right things.

    Vine embed:
    [automessage_vine_embed src="https://vine.co/v/bjHh0zHdgZT/embed/simple"]

You provide the value that's in the iframe src for embeds, it provides the rest. I would advise highly to provide the height and the width of the auto message popup. I think vine does 600x600, so at least that much and you should be good.

Both have been tested and verified, but let me know if you have issue.

Gorgeous! Just went in and tested this plugin and it works like a charm. Thanks very much for tackling this. I really appreciate it.
