There’s a plugin I use called “Auto Delete Posts”. Despite its name, you can also set it to move posts in to one category after X days. It updates after every new/updated post.

Seems to me after looking at “Auto Delete Posts” actually will move ALL posts that have been around for the selected time period to a specified category.
What I am actually looking for is to add a new post to “ALL NEW TODAY” category and after a day it would move it to another category. The other categories it may move it to would be say “cat1”, “cat2”, “cat3”. At time of posting I would select which category it would go into second.
Probably how this would work is I would select say “ALL NEW TODAY” and “cat3” categories at time of posting new post and after 1 day it would change it to only the “cat3” category.
Any ideas? Anything automated like this?
I haven’t used it personally, but I think in Auto Delete Posts if you selecct “Per Post” rather than “Site Wide” you can add an expiration date to your new posts (I think it’s at the bottom). Then after the post expires it will auto move it to one category.
Not sure if this helps you though, as if I understand you correctly you want to move post from one category to several.
The best way to achieve this would be to scrap the “ALL NEW TODAY” category and just put it in the others, then use the “query_posts” function to just display posts from the last 24 hours in the specific categories.
