    Hello,

I am new to WordPress, but not new to computer, etc. I have to admit, trying to set up my first WordPress page is making me feel a bit like a n00b. Anyways, here’s my problem..

I have tried to use an automatic installer for WordPress on a hosting site I’m using, (iPage) for my website, gbbucf.org

I’ve also downloaded a theme that I have tried to upload to my host server (iPage), but even without it installed, when I try to visit the admin part of my page, I always get directed to log-in to my WordPress.com page

I do have a WordPress.com account (I didn’t know there was a difference!) and have pointed my domain through the host (iPage, gbbucf.org) to my WordPress pae for $12. I’m under the impression that if I installed WordPress.org software, I can edit my WordPress.com blog?

Sometimes when I visit the site, the WordPress.org site would appear, but mostly it’s the WordPress.com site (which looks awful)

Any help you guys give would be greatly appreciated. This is for a university student lead organization and we are struggling for a website.

    Thank you!!

You can’t have one domain name that points to both a wordpress.com site and a self-hosted WP site. You either need to use a different domain name for the self-hosted site or remove the domain forwarding.

    Thanks for your response!

    Okay,

I deleted the gbbucf.org domain forwarding inside the domain options of WP.com

Now when I visit the site, I get the error of not having the domain linked. It asks to login, and when I click the link, it directs me to WordPress.com but I have the WordPress.org site info on my server..?

Ah, my Nameservers were still pointed at ns1.wordpress.com, etc..

I also reinstalled WordPress(.org) software on my host server, and now when I login, it no longer tells me im trying to access a page that is pointed to a WordPress.com server..

Thank you so much for your help!
