Authorship for custom Roles with only ‘read’ capabilities

Hi!

Is there a filter I can use to specify either the roles or capabilities of the users that show in the Authors dropdown? We have a need to have multiple user roles on the site beyond the plugin’s Guest Authors, and I’d like to be able to add an author to a post without giving them the same privileges as Contributors, such as deleting posts, for example.
