 * This is driving me crazy and after 3 hours googling for solutions and installing/
   removing plug ins here I am….
 * My site has posts, custom posts and a review engine. I want to use authors.php
   to display content created by any user.
 * If a user has created a post or custom post then fine, no problem.
 * if a user has only placed a review then I get the 404 portion of the author.php
   file.
 * Is there ANY way to get an author.php page for a user without a proper post in
   the db?

 * The ‘intent’ of the template author.php is to output posts by users with a minimal
   role of ‘author’…but how your theme’s author.php works is theme dependent. Ask
   theme provider.

 * Seacoast: the problem is that author.php does not output any user profile content
   for users who have not yet made a post.
 * This should be allowed.
 * I, too, have been researching this a lot today.

   which is working fantastically for me.

 * I am toying with BuddyPress, too.
    But I haven’t yet seen how viable it is to
   re-theme components like profile tabs beyond the basics.
