[resolved] Authorized Twitter Account - Global or user specific? (3 posts)

    I installed this on a P2 site with a few dozen users. I authenticated it to my personal twitter account (while logged in under my user account), but I'm not clear if that's authorization is restricted to MY user account, or did I just give all users of the site access to my twitter account?

    You gave your SITE access to your Twitter account. The users can't use that to log into your account. However, if those users have access to upload scripts to your site and execute them, then they could use the site's authentication to access your Twitter account. The type of access they'd have depends on how you set up your Twitter App. This plugin only needs READ access, which is the default. So unless you changed that to READ/WRITE, they'd only be able to pull data FROM your account...which they could already do just by visiting Twitter.com

    Thank you for the clarification Aaron.

    I went into my twitter app settings and made sure it was read only since I actually reused an app I created for a previous twitter widget for the same site.

    I trust the one other site admin and most of the P2 members are just authors/subscribers so I'm comfortable with things.
