I’m following the instructions from Updraft (linked) to set up Updraft with Google drive. I’m stuck at the end of step 4 where it says “Under ‘Authorized redirect URI’, paste in the URL that was shown to you on your UpdraftPlus settings page back in your WordPress admin console”. There’s no URL visible in that part of settings. Any clues please? Spent hours trying to solve this already. Is it a problem if I skip this step?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

Since UpdraftPlus 1.13.6 we have our own Google Drive app which makes the process of connecting Google Dive to your site easy, just save your settings and follow the link that pops up on screen.

If you prefer to use your own app then instructions for that are here:

    http://updraftplus.com/support/configuring-google-drive-api-access-in-updraftplus/

In that guide there is a part that says to add the following line to your wp-config.php:

    define(‘UPDRAFTPLUS_CUSTOM_GOOGLEDRIVE_APP’, true);

By adding this it will display the redirect URL and the other input fields for your client id etc.

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley

Thanks for responding. If I could find a simpler way of doing it I would gladly try it but I have searched and can’t see a different plugin called updraft Google Drive or similar. Where is it please?

    Hi,

    Theres no additional download needed.

You just go to your UpdraftPlus settings then follow this guide here:

    Hi Ashley
    Thanks for your efforts.
There must be an error. I am not being prompted to press a link to complete the authorisation. It just says this “Have not yet obtained an access token from Google – you need to authorise or re-authorise your connection to Google Drive. (Invalid request (refresh token not present).) (no_refresh_token)”
There is nothing to click on.

    Any clue?

    Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

So you select Google Drive and then click the save settings button at the bottom of the page, this should cause the pop up to appear with the link.

If you have already saved your settings you may have missed this link, but it can be found in the two following places:

The first place is at the top of your UpdraftPlus settings page under the “UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore” title the link looks like this:

“UpdraftPlus notice: Follow this link to authorize access to your Google Drive account (you will not be able to back up to Google Drive without it).”

The second place you will find this link is on the same page but under the Google Drive settings, this link looks like this:

“After you have saved your settings (by clicking ‘Save Changes’ below), then come back here once and click this link to complete authentication with Google Drive.”

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley

Ashley sorry for the slow reply, I didn’t realise you had responded until today. There isn’t a link as you describe anywhere on the settings page. However under Authenticate with Google it does say “(You appear to be already authenticated, though you can authenticate again to refresh your access if you’ve had a problem). Follow this link to remove this instances settings for Google Drive.”
Despite it saying I am authenticated, my backups are failing and I’m getting the error in red that I quoted in my previous comment.
Shall I “remove this instances settings for Google Drive” and start again or will that break something?

Ashley – good news, I did it all again and it’s worked this time. Thanks so much for your help, it was really useful.
