My users with author role can’t use the option to quickly add a download. It seems that they don’t have the proper permissions. They see the interface, upload a file but the UI returns an empty field for the URL.

Is this a bug or a user permissions related issue?

Which permission do I need to give them, or what filter to use?

  • Hey @paulovsky,

Thanks for sharing the details. By default, our plugin function is only available to the admin users. I will create an issue ticket to hide the upload feature from non-admin users.

To make it work for users with author role, you will need custom code or 3rd party plugin but since we have not done this ourselves, we cannot recommend any plugin.

I hope that answers your query. Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Hey @paulovsky,

To clarify the previous answer. Only users that have the manage_downloads capability can upload files/downloads. By default, this capability is only given to administrators. You can, however, add this capability to any user role you like with a plugin like this one: https://nl.wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/

I agree that if the user can’t use the functionality, they shouldn’t see it. We’ll look into this.

    Kind Regards,
