 * Hello all,
 * I have searched in keywords such as CMS but so far haven’t found a simple answer
in the forums, perhaps also because I’m a newbie and do not quite know how to
narrow down on what I need. Here itis…
 * I have developed a simple site in WP for an author. She will not, at this stage,
use WordPress admin, as she does not know anything about it and wants me to be
site admin. However, as the featured author on this site, she is the one that
will initiate all the main posts on the blog section. So I am looking for a really
clear and simple front-end system for posting (
    - not as a guest
 * , but as the site owner), without ever going through site admin:dashboard.
 * I’m sure this is a recurring question for beginner site developers (which I don’t
do for a living) and that there are several possible solutions, many requiring
plugins or some kind of WP “front-end” allowing the relevant permissions to post
author posts, with a clear, simple interface. I thought this would have to be
some kind of CMS plugin, but that’s where I get lost.
 * Finally, I need her, ultimately, to be able to post from desktop (MAC/PC) or
Tablets (Android/IoS), if at all possible.
 * Would you please give me your suggestions and comments as to what kind of solution
I have to look at and if possible relevant recommendations for plugins or apps?
 * Thanks a lot.

without a subscriber to use dasboard admin text editor 🙁
    Thanks

 * You could try one of the plugins found in a [search](https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/front+end+editor/).
I don’t understand the objection to back end post editing. The author needs to
log in in order to create posts. Their capabilities can be adjusted so about
all they see in the backend is their posts and their profile.
 * We can put up a post edit form on any template with a call to wp_editor(), but
that doesn’t get current content or handle the form submit, nor display other
post elements like categories, tags, or even a publish button. Then if you also
want a post list table more sophisticated than the default index list, there’s
even more things that need to be addressed that are already available in the
backend. It seems like a lot of effort for little or no gain.
 * [@assiene](https://wordpress.org/support/users/assiene/) – would you please refrain
from posting “me too” replies to topics? You can subscribe to topics without
replying with the “Subscribe” link in the right hand sidebar. When someone adds
any reply to a new topic, the topic is removed from the “No Replies” list that
many experts here use to find those still needing assistance. Your reply has
the unfortunate side effect of lessening the visibility of the topic to many
people in the best position to help. We know that was not your desire and you
only have the best of intentions, but that is what happens.
 * Naturally, if you have something constructive to contribute, by all means do
so. It’s also OK to start your own topic. It often turns out that others topics
don’t really align with your own needs anyway. Thanks for understanding.

 * Thank you very much. That’s really useful.
 * The back end posting objection comes from the fact that I did not advise it,
simply because I knew nothing about it. While I’ve got to grips with WP to create
a decent site structure, I really have no idea about posting and the blog side
in general. Often, it comes down to knowing what things are called: now that
I know it’s called back end posting and does not give admin rights to the rest
of the site, I can start learning.
 * The same goes for your search recommendations. I looked under CMS which overpowered
me with irrelevant (for this project) functionality. But now I know what I am
looking for is a front end editor.
 * So thanks for your patience. I got the answer I needed an a useful lesson in
   WP terminology in the process.

 * No problem at all! Learning proper terminology is indeed the the first step in
learning a new system of any sort. Until we agree on what we call that “whatchyamacallit”
function, it’s difficult to talk about it in a meaningful manner. As you’ve experienced,
even generic searches will fail to be useful until you know the proper terminology
to use. Modern search engines can be remarkable in intuiting what we want, but
still fail to be useful when we search for that “whatchyamacallit” function 🙂
