 * I had a visitor that accessed a page called “/author-area” and “/author-panel”
   today. I have never seen either of those before. Is anyone familiar with those
   and is that something new, strange???? Thanks a lot.

 * Neither of those are “standard” urls in WordPress. Have you tried accessing the
   urls on your site yourself? If so, where do they lead to?

 * Sounds like a rather clumsy hacker bot trying to find a way into the site. If
   you ever looked at your site’s access logs, you’d probably be amazed at just 
   how many of these probe attempts your site gets. Nothing to worry about really.
   All just par for the course.
 * Keep your site, theme & plugins updated, have a look at [Hardening_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress)
   and you can just ignore these.
