• HI!

Lately the audio playlists on my site don’t work consistently, or often not at all, especially in Safari but also in Firefox and Chrome.
The local copy of the site on my Mac works flawlessly in all major browsers, but online it’s hopeless since about a month or so (before that it worked fine for months).

I use the standard playlist shortcode and WPcore MediaElement.js. And a self built theme (based on Blankslate).

My hosting service told me there hadn’t been any changes on their server that could be the cause. I’ve tried re-uploading the audio files, different bitrates, deactivation of all plugins, but nothing seems to help.

So, what else could be the causing this?
    I’m desperate.

    Hey bxwebber,

Has anything changed recently, such as a plugin upgrade, core upgrade, or other change?

Have you tried disabling all plugins to see if it still works? (I know you said it works great in your local environment, and it stinks to mess with the live site, but desperate times call for certain measures.)

Can you send along a link to your site for us to have a look?

Are you getting a specific error, or just nothing?

    Thanks!

    Ben

Hello Ben, thanks for your reply.

What I’ve already tried (and didn’t work):
    – disabling all plugins
    – installing a caching plugin
    – re-upload the mp3’s and attach them explicitly to the post
    – rewrite all mp3’s in the same bitrate (128 CBR)
    – explicitly stating the play options in the shortcode (like preload etc)
    – remove all custom CSS for the styling

First I thought it could be some sort of database problem.
Now I’m thinking: could it have something to do with the upgrade to WP 4 or 4.0.1 ?
Or that my self built theme is missing something needed to make MediaElement work, since that upgrade?
I just don’t know how to check on those things.

I’ve searched a lot on the internet, but can’t find anything related to this problem.
    Do you have any ideas?

    Oh, well…
I’ve resorted to SoundCloud for now
