audio files stored in wrong year

    Hello,

    I have someone uploading mp3 files to our site. She experienced some problems recently and asked that I check it out. I tried and had the same problems. I added the file with filezilla- and still was unable to see it online. I went in through filezilla and found quite a few instances of the audio file (some with different names) uploaded to the 2010 folder under 11th month! The date of last modification was the day she tried to upload. I deleted these files and tried to upload it again- I was successful using the browser uploader. It works fine but when I looked for the file in wp-content/uploads/2012/02 it wasn’t listed. I checked wp-content/uploads/2010/11 and there it was- last modified date today- weird.

    I also noticed that there are a few other files in there- 2010 I mean. We didn’t start uploading mp3 until 2011. I have the media settings in wordpress ticked to ‘organize my uploads into month- and year based folders.

    Any help would be appreciated. One other thing I did notice a few weeks ago is that some of the files won’t open in Chrome and some will. I just thought it was a Chrome issue. I remember seeing some of those that wouldn’t play in Chrome in that 2010 folder. I still need to confirm that the files that won’t play are in there.

    Anyone else having this issue?

    Hi Tessa,

    I am having the same problem, except with photographs!
    The system is somehow creating a folder for february 2011 instead of 2012. I’m using Adinda Theme and am wondering if this could be the problem (the themes we are using).

    If that is the case, is there any script of manual way of fixing or even checking the global date that our sites are reading?

    I guess the question would be, where is my site getting its month and year from and how can we change this?

    Tessa, I just had a revelation:

    The photos in my galleries are being stored in the right month and year (02/12) but I couldn’t figure out why oh why the thumbnail would go into the 02/11 folder.

    Well, it turns out that’s the month when I created that page. So naturally, every content I put in there (even if it’s linking to fresher content) will live in that particular folder.

    I also went into Settings and checked to make sure that my WP getting the right date, and indeed, everything is working as it should.

    It was just very disconcerting to see the same month but the wrong year! But just a coincidence it seems. Well, back to work. I hope this is helpful to all of you out there who make use of this Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders feature!

    Hey caribbeanviolin,

    I see what you’re saying- the files going in the year I created the page 2010- but the month is still wrong, and not all of them are going there. Some show up in 2011- I found one file that showed up in month 4 and 5 2011. This doesn’t have anything to do with a theme- this something core being corrupted somewhere- unfortunately, I don’t know when it happened, how, or why. And I sure don’t know how to fix it. The only idea I have is to update WP, but I’m not sure about that either.

    I’m hoping some WP guru will see this and know exactly what to do 🙂
