    Hi everyone,

I have posted the same frustrating problem again and i thought i fixed it but unfortunately with every woocommerce update everything gets worse

Ok i have an attribute for a product with 67 different terms that i want to show in a drop down list alphabetically.

Each time i add a different term i have to manually place it in the order it is supposed to go (alphabetically) by drag and drop. Otherwise in my site there’s not a chance of showing up right. I mean it is supposed to sort them alphabetically and it never does until i manually place the term.
So i had to search between all my pages and add the term in the right place which is a bit difficult and time consuming if you have many pages.

After the latest update i cant even do that. Every time i try to drag and drop it goes either on the first page or the last.

I have set the attribute in custom sorting, alphabetically, id and nothing of the above changes.
I have sorted the terms by name and for a moment they seem ok but once i refresh everything changes again.
    Any help?

  • There are two places where you can set the default sort order, are you using the setting in the right place? There is a setting drop-down on the Attributes page, and this is the initial setting for any attributes you might create in future, but not for existing ones. To set for an existing attribute, find the attribute in the list of attributes, hover over the name until “Edit” appears, click that, and on the next screen there is a second default sort order drop-down that affects only this existing attribute.

Ok i created a new attribute and i sorted it by name. It worked, it sorts them without me doing anything. I experimented a lot and i lost it somewhere i guess, even though it was way too simple. Such a novice. Anyway i have to create them again from scratch because as you said now it cannot be fixed. Thank you for your help and quick response.

No, it should be possible to change the sort order for an existing attribute without recreating it.

Find the attribute in the list of attributes, hover over the name until “Edit” appears, click that, and on the next screen there is a second default sort order drop-down that affects only this existing attribute.
