Attempted to change something now can't get into my blog at all

    Hi all. I was attempting to add naviagation to my wordpress header, I added a bit of coding where I THOUGHT it should go, clicked Update File and now I cannot get into my blog at all. Obviously the coding was wrong.

    I get the error HTT500 error each and everytime i try to access my site.

    I know there are some other forum posts on this but I am just very confused (and frustrated)

    help oh please oh please.

    Either use your ftp client to undo the edit to the file, or replace the file you were attempting to edit with the copy form your last backup. If that’s the only issue, the problem should resolve itself.

    okay. i am fairly unfamilar with ftp but i will do some reading. willfollow up as needed

    I made this mistake a few times myself! There are a few ways to fix it depending on your setup.

    If you’re using one theme but still have the default theme sitting there, then an easy fix is to go to your cPanel, go to File Manager and delete the theme you changed. The blog will revert to the default theme.

    You will then be able to get back into your dashboard and upload the right theme again.

    A lesson for the future – if you’re going to change any coding at all, take a copy of the file and save it on Notepad or something. Then if it all goes haywire, you can just edit that one file and replace the original

    well I can’t find the theme to delete. it was not a theme i uploaded, it was one of the ones that you can just choose. It was Brunelleschi.

    is there any other options?
