Support » Plugin: Genesis Blocks » Atomic blocks didn’t convert to Genesis blocks

    Hi,

I’m using Atomic Blocks (now, in theory, Genesis Blocks) with a Twenty Twenty Child Theme. My understanding was that the migration tool would automatically replace any AB blocks we’re using with the equivalent GB blocks. But if you take the page https://balatongroup.pairsite.com/books/, where there are lots of AB Advanced Columns blocks, they have remained exactly as they were.

Note that I had to reactivate Atomic Blocks to get the page to display correctly. When I disable AB it simply displays all of the components stacked (rather than in columns).

I tried adding one Genesis Blocks Advanced Columns component to check that it works, and it was fine.

Have I missed something? Did the migration tool fail?

(I tried redoing the migration by uninstalling GB and then going through the migration again, but I’m refused access to the page at “/wp-admin/admin.php?page=atomic-blocks-migrate-page”.

Is there some way I can do a find and replace throughout the whole site?

    Thanks!
    Eoghan

    Hey Eoghan,

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this! This sounds like the migration tool may have failed.

Another possibility (I just want to rule out) is that if you added blocks from Atomic Blocks after the migration to Genesis Blocks was completed, those newly-inserted blocks will still be from “Atomic Blocks”. Is that a possibility here?

To avoid that, we recommend disabling Atomic Blocks once the migration has completed.

I’d like to try and get this fixed for you. It is possible to re-run the migration, and it should resolve this for you.

To do that, log into your wp-admin, and add this to the end of the URL:

    ?genesis-blocks-migrate=1

So the full URL would be this for your site:

    https://balatongroup.pairsite.com/wp-admin/?genesis-blocks-migrate=1

That will then direct you to the migration page, and you can re-run the migration. Once complete, those blocks should be converted to Genesis Blocks.

    Hey Phil,

Many thanks for this. Indeed it does seem like it simply didn’t work the first time around. I tried again and it has worked perfectly.

All is good. (The site is live now at http://www.balatongroup.org.)

    Thanks,
    Eoghan
