7.3.1 broke tables.
Hello,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I understand how frustrating it can be when tables don’t display as expected, and I’d like to help clarify what’s going on.
First, just to note — our developers did not introduce any changes in version 7.3.1 that would affect how tables load or display. The issue is most likely related to your specific setup. To narrow this down:
1. Table type check
- Could you confirm which table type you’re using?
- If it’s a Manual or SQL-based table with server-side processing and you have caching enabled, please check the browser console for an “invalid JSON response” error. If you see this, the steps in this guide should help:

2. Backend vs. frontend behavior
From your notes ( we found a couple of support tickets that match your displayed name), it seems the table sorts correctly in the backend, but one numeric/integer column is displayed as text/string on the frontend.wpDataTables follows the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) principle — so tables and charts should look and behave the same in both backend preview and frontend. If you notice differences (e.g., missing images, styling issues, or incorrect sorting), this usually points to a conflict with your theme, page builder, or another plugin.
To test this:
- Switch to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Twenty-Four).
- Deactivate all other plugins except wpDataTables, then check again.
- If the table displays correctly, reactivate plugins one by one until the issue reappears.

A few days ago, there was an unrelated issue on Google’s side that temporarily caused problems for Google Sheet–linked tables. This has since been resolved, but if your tables use Google Sheets, please confirm whether the problem persists.Since you appear to be a Premium user, the best way forward is to open a ticket through our support platform:

We’d be happy to work with you directly to resolve this. If we manage to fix the issue, we’d kindly ask you to consider updating your review to reflect your experience with our support.
Looking forward to your reply.
Kind regards,
Milos
