Assigning <h1> tag to the latest post and <h2> to others on the homepage? (3 posts)

I'm really eager to make my new blog as search engine friendly as possible.

After doing some reading I have applied the basics but have come across a suggestion that doesn't have a plugin already made for implementing it.

The idea is for the home page and relates to <h1> tags. What I want is a script/plugin that will assign a <h1> to the title of the most recent post and give a <h2> to all other post titles.

I read that this is great for SEO but I can't find a plugin.

    All assistance is welcome.

I don't think that's a "great" idea. In every normal theme the blog title is h1 - and h1 should occur only once on a page (I hope you read that, too!).
And no, there is no plugin for every nonsense that some "seo-genius" came up with :)

Thanks. If I find the script then the h1 tag will only be used on the latest post on the homepage.

I've heard good things about this technique from reputible sources and will try it out before drawing any conclusions.

It only applies to the blog home page and it is a 'nothing to lose' tweak really. Having h1 in my blog title isn't a benefit to me.

    Thanks for your response anyway.
