Support » Fixing WordPress » Assign tags or multiple categories to images for portfolio use?

  • Hello all,

I’m trying to put together a portfolio site for a friend and I’m wondering what the best way to proceed is: I want to make a filterable list of all her images (about 400) where the user can simply select the type of image and the results will be filtered to display only the relevant results. Each image will belong to several different categories (ex: a single image could belong to blue, abstract and animal print).

Is there an existing plugin that can handle that?

I had a theme built, but the guy basically just made it so each image could be assigned to a single category (plus each image had to be assigned to a page in order for it to be displayed for some reason).

It would be better to handle this by tags rather than categories.

I agree, but I think there may be some limitations. I’m not looking for the images to open in their own pages, it’s all to be displayed on the home page. Here’s a link to the mockup that shows the functionality more or less. Clicking on a thumb would load the larger image in that center area. I already have the working scrollbar and process of loading the thumb to that main area, what I need is a way to manage and organize the images.

That has nothing to do with using tags. You can decide how you want the images displayed within your tag template.
