Support » Plugin: Custom Post Type UI » Assign Categories to CPT

Hi! I love this plugin. I am duplicating an old WP site on a new theme and have used it to pull in the custom posts from the old site. However, I can’t figure out how to assign categories to these custom posts so it will show up on the new theme portfolio. Is there way to set categories via CPT? Thanks!

there should be an “advanced options” link in the add new/edit screens that will reveal more options available for the CPTs, including support for categories/tags/custom taxonomies

Ever get this figured out AngieC? If yes, please feel free to mark as resolved.

I guess I have the same problem. The taxonomies I added are viewable as new tag taxonomies and not new categories. I can’t see were to do this. This is what I can see under ‘advanced options’:

To make them act like categories, with parents/children relationships and all, set the taxonomy to be hierarchical. If that’s false, then the taxonomy is more akin to being tag-like.

Ah, thanks! That wasn’t clear to me. Ofcourse I should have known because tags aren’t hierarchical.
