    Hello,

We recently switched to using WordPress, and used the Tumblr importer plugin to pull all our posts in. We use Tumblr Crosspostr to post back to Tumblr now.

Our old reblogs of asks sent to us (before moving into WordPress) seem to be missing the latest comments that were associated with the reblog.

Example WP post (contains the comments associated with latest reblog): http://platinum-happy.com/2015/activities/135
Example Tumblr post (missing the comments associated with latest reblog): http://platinum-happy.tumblr.com/post/132631819973/135

I tried to edit another post in WP (with the same issue) to fix the problem, but it does not seem to update on Tumblr at all. I even tried stripping the post of everything and putting in just text, and no go (the post on Tumblr remains the same as prior to editing, yet WP post is updated).

Debugging gives me no error and it says it posts to Tumblr just fine.

All the posts are set to “Standard” post type.

Any insight as to what the issue might be would be extremely helpful. Please let me know if you need any further information from me.

    Thank you!

The Tumblr Importer is a plugin unaffiliated with this one. I didn’t write it and I don’t make any guarantees of its compatibility. I suspect that Tumblr Importer doesn’t maintain records of which Tumblr post a specofic post came from, so once imported that post has nothing tying it back to the original post on Tumblr. This makes sense for Tumblr Importer (because it is sn importer) but obviously is not good enough for cross-posting.

You can verify this by checking for the two custom fields tumblr_post_id and tumblr_hostname. Both should be present and have sensible values in a given post’s custom meta fields for Tumblr Crosspostr to know which post on Tumblr that WordPress post should be getting crossposted to.

If they are missing, it’s probably because Tumblr Importer never added that metadata, and you’ll have to do that manually.

    Hello Meitar,

    Thank you for responding!

I checked out the custom fields and there was data there matching our Tumblr + post ID given in the URL. The reblogs were originally fine prior to editing in WordPress (and Crosspostr then posting to Tumblr), so I don’t think it was an issue with Tumblr Importer.

The only edit we made were to add a “featured image” to each post for better aesthetics on the website. While reblogs that were only one level deep seem to be unaffected (and also did not contain text), more deeply nested reblogs seemed to be affected.

Could there be something else that I am missing?

    Thank you!
