Support » Plugin: Pixel Manager for WooCommerce » Ask for Plugin Rating is Broken

  • Even if we wanted to leave a review/rating for your plugin, we can’t because this functionality is broken. None of the links work. Annoying message stays at the top of the admin pages with no ability to dismiss.

    Hi @skunkbad

There was an error which I fixed and pushed to the newest version. Have you updated the plugin? Which version are you running? If you’re still on a older version, after updating the plugin the message will go away. If it shows up again (which it shouldn’t if you clicked on “I already did”) then just click on “I already did” and in will never shop up again.

Ironically some code that I added in order to debug and test the plugin better, triggered that issue. Life of a developer, sometimes improvements bite me in the back.

Since the issue is resolved, I would appreciate if you could reconsider your rating, maybe delete or improve it, since the plugin hopefully brings more value to you than harm.

    Thanks
    Aleksandar

Now I’m seeing that ask-for-rating.js is being blocked by uBlock, and so is the dialog-boxes.css from fremius. I’d be happy to reconsider my rating, but as it stands I may end up deactivating or deleting your plugin. You’ve got to git rid of this bologna.

Hmm. Thanks for looking deeper into it and sending that additional information.

I am puzzled why uBlock is doing this, since both files are being served from your server and therefore should not be automatically blocked. (It would make sense if the files were hosted on a different server).

I’ll try to find a way around this. I’ll let you know once I know more.

I know what’s happening. uBlock is using filter lists. And since our plugin is injecting tracking pixels, all scripts under the plugin directory have been added to one of those filter lists: https://take.ms/q1rvI

That probably has happened by some concerned person who simply wanted to block ad tracking.

Generally it is ok, if uBlock does the blocking on the front end for everyone who is using uBlock for that purpose.

But, as a consequence it also means that the scripts and files in the backend will get blocked and impair the working of our plugin.

I have posted a support request in the uBlock issue tracker, hoping that they unblock admin scripts for the back end: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/8450

Judging from older requests it doesn’t look like we will get a response or solution soon (if at all).

Therefore, in the meantime I recommend you simply disable uBlock for your own shop like this: https://take.ms/B0ivV (open the backend of your shop, then open uBlock and disable it for your website)

I’m thinking about implementing a way to prevent at least the rating popup to show up in case scripts are blocked. But the current solution I’m thinking about will not work properly in 100% of all cases, plus the admin menus of our plugin will still get rendered useless as long as the script blocking is happening.

Therefore it is best to disable uBlock for now.

I found a neat solution that will hide the rating popup for those admins who have some script blocker installed. I’ve already published the new version with the fix (1.7.7).

Please update it and let me know if it works for you.

If it does I would appreciate if you could adjust your rating.

    Thanks

uBlock support has helped to remove the restrictions on the scripts in the backend of WooCommerce shops. Now the issue should be solved entirely.

You will have to update the uBlock filter list before you see all scripts working again: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dashboard:-Filter-lists#update-now
