    Hello!

Thank you for this great plugin, but I think there is a bug…

Sometimes same posts appear on my Telegram channel several times after I publish them on WordPress.

Could you help me with this?

    Hello @funkf,
I am sorry that you are facing that issue. It’s a known issue caused by the new block editor and some other plugins. There is a simple solution to fix the problem.
You need to enable the delay option in Post to Telegram settings, even a 1-minute delay should work just fine 🙂

@manzoorwanijk, thanks! I enabled 5 minutes delay and it solved the problem.

But… articles eventually get published but not after 5 minutes delay, sometimes even more…

The second issue is that sometimes edited articles get published. How articles are scheduled? If I publish an article and edit it before WP Telegram publishes it (because of delay), will it be published only once or for every edit?

It depends upon the number of visits to your website. The scheduled posts are sent when someone visits your website after the delay time.

The second issue is that sometimes edited articles get published

When you schedule an article for the delay and then edit it before being sent to Telegram, it will only be sent once.

I think you should have a look at Send to Telegram option on post edit page and see if it’s ON. That’s the switch that has the highest priority.

Isn’t that weird requirement for delayed posts? I use this plugin exactly to gain more visitors to my website via Telegram. Could this be changed in future version?

I will test it more then let you know!

    That’s how WordPress scheduling works.
To make sure that everything gets through at its proper time, it’s better to set up a real cron on your hosting server/cPanel that hits http://youdomain.com/wp-cron.php every 5 minutes or so.

    @manzoorwanijk oh, I see, thanks a lot!

If Send to Telegram has the highest priority that means if I edit the post before being sent to Telegram (delay) and set Send to Telegram to NO, it will not publish it? Even if the first time I published it was set to YES?

Since the post has already been added to the queue, it’s not removed even if you select NO, rather only its delay can be updated if you select YES the second time. I will try to improve it in the upcoming versions. Thanks

@manzoorwanijk oh well, that could be an issue that I have. Every time I edit an article and it is set to YES, it means that the delay will be updated? For every update it will add +5 mins delay?

Yes, that’s true. I will try to make it better in future. Thank you for the report. You may close the topic now.

If the delay is different in the two edits, it’s very well possible that it leads to duplicate posts. If you keep the delay same as the first time, then the delay of the post in the queue will be updated.
    For example:
If you publish a post with a delay of 5 minutes and then use the same delay (of 5 minutes) when you edit it, then the old entry in the queue will be overwritten.

Otherwise if you publish with a delay of 5 minutes and then edit the post and set the delay of 4 or 6 minutes, then the old entry will not be updated, instead a new entry will be added to the queue, resulting in double posting.

I see! Thanks for clarifying this!

@manzoorwanijk I still have a problem with duplicate posts. This time the title of post was changed. Could it be that when a title is changed a new entry is added to the queue?

    Is the delay still enabled?

@manzoorwanijk Yes, delay is enabled. Could it be the issue when the post is in draft mode, but Send to Telegram is set to YES?
