    It seems that I’ve found which is the issue. After disabling photon, all got back to normal. Maybe this will help others.

    The problem might be related to your theme, Webdirectory. I downloaded it, and I must say I don’t truly understand how the images are loaded in the Featured slideshow.
    I wanted to run a few tests on my own test site to try to fix the problem, but the theme returns errors and notices stopping me from working on the site (I can’t set a Featured Image, and I can’t view the slideshow on the frontend because of a Javascript error).

    I’d suggest getting in touch with the theme author, and ask them why each Featured Image is loaded twice in the slideshow.
