  • You’ve chosen a unique theme and layout. However, given the fact that you discuss art, the color palette should use more color as well, perhaps more of a watercolors feel. Also, I think a larger splashier graphic on the home page perhaps featuring a work from an artist of the month would whet the appetite of viewers coming to the site and give people even more reason to bookmark the site and return.

    However, given the fact that you discuss art, the color palette should use more color as well

    I’d argue the exact opposite. Let the art stand as the focus and the design act as a stage in the background.

    Thank you both for the feedback, and sorry for the delayed response. I got bogged down with another project.

    You raise some good points, stylepeterson. I like the idea of an artist of the month. I do agree with WiBu, however about letting the theme remain in the background and allowing the emphasis to be on the content, but art and taste are so subjective 🙂

    Quick Question: Where in the world is Westchester?

    Ok, several pages show me both a horizontal and vertical scroll bar around the main content are.

    On several pages the post blocks don’t line up right. One page has three across the top row then only one on the right side and then three on the third row. On one page, two blocks are overlapping and the link at the bottom of the top post is covered by the bottom post so I am unable to see or click it.

    I’m not that great at coding, so you might ask for some help in the themes forum.

    Other than that, I like the look of the site. Maybe add a picture to some of the text only posts. Since it is an artist site you want a little more visual interest in your articles. Even if it is only a small picture of the museum in Claremont, Calif. in the one post.

    By the way, using FireFox (3.5.6) on an Ubuntu (9.10 Karmic Koala) Linux system.

    Thanks for the feedback and kind words, lokrin2000.

    Yes, I just noticed the additional scrollbars on some of the older archive pages. Big thanks for pointing that out. I have a strong feeling that it has to do with the length of the excerpts. That will definitely get taken care of — very unsightly.

    I honestly try to provide images when they’re available, but it isn’t always possible. Quite a few of the posts are press releases with no images provided. Sometimes, there are copyright issues; some posts are too short to merit the time to find decent, copyright-free attendant images. 🙁

    Thanks again for your input. It’s certainly appreciated.

    Oh, Westchester County is in New York State.

    I have a feeling that this code will take care of the problem of ovelaps and scrollbars

    <?php $view = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'content', $single = true); ?>
    <?php if($view === excerpt ) { ?>
    <?php the_excerpt(); ?>
    <?php } else { ?>
    <?php the_content_limit('75'); ?>
    <?php } ?>
