  • http://www.abductedrecords.com is my site.

I have deleted the comments template from the single.php, page.php, and attachment.php, yet i am still receiving malicious spam comments constantly that is causing my CPU to run high (i think thats why) on the server side. I receive hundreds of spam comments, although i have no users registered on my site. I know php fairly well, and can edit code where needed. Is there an easy way to make it impossible for comments to be made? I do not need wordpress comments since im using a facebook plugin. thanks!

In the admin under settings > discussion, you need to uncheck the box that says Allow people to post comments on new articles

oh, i forgot to mention. i did that as well. i have all the options clicked off, as well as i have physically taken the comments template out of those files listed above. still, i receive spam from users who are not even registerd on my site somehow

That’s weird.. if that setting is checked off, there shouldn’t be any forms anywhere on your site.

there are no forms anywhere on my site, thats what im referencing. somehow the bots are still making comments with no comment forms.

I REALLY need an answer to this. im getting about a hundred comments an hour on my site from spam bots :/

Have you tried asking on their forum

i have not yet because i feel this is a core wordpress problem. i have found a couple of plugins that seem to be working and doing the trick but i would like to be able to edit the code to just eliminate the problem all together
