ARNING: Job restarts due to inactivity for more than 5 minutes.

Hello. Thank you very much for the plugin. It is a lifesaver.

My recent backup returned a warning:

WARNING: Job restarts due to inactivity for more than 5 minutes.
(the full log is appended to the end of this message)

Can you give me more information as to what this means and how I can resolve it? Also, in the future, can I enable some sort of “verbose log” or something that gives more description for errors/warnings? Or is there some sort of documentation that lists some (or all) of the common errors/logs, and what they mean? It’s tedious for you and I if I have to post here every time I receive an error/warning. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps there is a separate log that my server keeps that would shed more light on the issue?

How is the maxumum execution time configure in BAckWPup > Settings > Tab: Jobs? Try to set it to 30 secounds.

Thank you very much for the reply.

The current max execution time is set to 120 seconds. I have set it to 30 seconds and will try to run a backup now. Intuitively though, shouldn’t I set this time to something larger than 120 seconds? The warning indicates that the job was inactive for 120 seconds, so it restarted. Won’t setting it to 30 seconds also give the same warning?

The Problem is that something has aborded the backup process. That detects BackWPup und restart the backup. Mostly it it cames form a to long working time. That is why you must decrease the time. Best is to start with 30 secounds.

Thanks for that. I changed the property to 30 seconds and ran a backup. I received a different error. See below:

With hoster is it ?

Try the option on BackWPup > Settings > Tab Jobs with the name: Empty output on working.

The host is Go Daddy.

I enabled that and re-ran the backup. I received the same warnings/errors. Should the output have been different?

It, can. But that it looks leike that it not helps.

You can try to reduce the exectuion time to 25 secounds.

Thanks for your help. Just to confirm though, are you saying that there is no way to further diagnose this issue–with BackWPup logs, server logs, or any other diagnostic?

You can check the server logs for errors on time the backup is run.

Possibly a clue: I have 4 independent WordPress installations (one per domain on my server) and PHP 7 is activated for every domain. My hoster lets me chose this for every subdomain. 🙂

BackWPup has the same settings in every install but only in one installation the same error occurs when the automatic backup wants to send the database backup via email. I set this domain to use PHP 5.6 and then everything worked normal again.

Maybe another plugin interfers..
