I am unable to customize my site .
The whole area is on "saved" instead of publish and save.
    What do I do.
My host server support does not know how to help.

  2. Hey there,

Are you talking about an area you customise a theme?

    A plugin area?

The WP editor that lets you edit files?

    When you post?

    Something else?

Could you please elaborate further, maybe a screenshot or two if you think it will help demonstrate the issue so I fully understand and know where to look.

    HI there,
It is area where you customize you theme.

It comes up when you click on customize or appearances.
Instead of in the area menu that comes up on the left where it should say "publish and save" it simply says" saved" and you cannot click on the secondary drop down menus.

    don't know how to include a screenshot here.....to stupid....sorry

    thank you so much......

  4. Hey again.

Ah, it's the theme customizer. Well when you first load that it does show as Saved and continues to be until you edit something.

I just took a look on mine and it's working, if you're not able to drop down the options then I'd guess something must be conflicting there, that could be the theme or a plugin.

Which theme is this? Could you link me please?

If I can freely download it on WP then I can give it a test and see how it works for me.

    You could also enable debug:

Failing that you'll need to test for conflicts. This is done by testing with the default theme, if it works then it's relating to the theme you're using. If not then the next step is disabling your plugins to continue testing for conflicts. It's also possible the conflict is with the theme and a plugin.

Let me know how you get on with that.

does the mac software and your wordpress have a conflict?

  7. I use Mac, it has no bearing on WordPress. WordPress generally (for live sites) runs on a host.

How did you erase your site?

At what point did you install a new site?

When you edited your wp-config.php file to enable WP_DEBUG you didn't delete anything in that file did you? And then go through a new install setup?

When using WP_DEBUG or testing for conflicts you wouldn't edit anything else in the config file or go through a new install process.

Do you have a backup? If not then can you check in your database to see if all the content still exists, providing it's there in full then all is not lost.

    Take care.

Tim, it was such a mess, I am unable to go into the depth like you suggest, I have just some knowledge in wordpress.

I had the database deleted at the host with help from host people. They did it for me.

So it may be that it was the Madeini theme that caused the issue, I had deleted all plugins and it still did not open the drop down menus.

I now use the 2014, however, cannot change the black color to something else.
    Where would I do that?
And the installed plugin for hit counter does not show up. What do I have to do to install after I activated it?

    Kind regards Ute

  9. Hey again.

The theme might have (or not) been the cause for not being able to use Customizer, hard to know for sure without seeing, testing and debugging. It shouldn't have been the cause of being reinstalled as a default WP site though.

Which black part do you want to change, the sidebar, the footer, the text in the centre?

Not sure which plugin you refer to, maybe a link?

  11. Hey again.

I'd love to garden, I love the idea of gardens, I love to see nice gardens, but sadly I'm as good at gardening as I am DIY and that's not very good. ha ha.

You can change the colour with some CSS like:

    #secondary, .site-header, .site-footer {
    	background-color: #002000;

You can find the hex codes here in case that's too dark:

Didn't realise hit counters will still popular but alas it seems they may well be and there are a number of plugins for that:

For the Facebook thing, I don't know what WordPress.org use but it looks like they might have just included it in the design rather than a plugin:

There are plugins also, like this one:

    Hope this helps.
