• Ughhh… Anyone know of a way to stop this? I’m in the middle of doing something on the site and then I get logged out and have the login box come up. I log in, finish my editing and then I get the “Are you sure you want to do this?” message. It clears all my edits and I have to re-do them. It is annoying, especially considering the fact that ever since the more recent versions of WordPress seems to have shortened the amount of time it keeps you logged in.

What is the point of this feature? Logically if a dialog box pops up asking you to log back in, it wouldn’t clear all your edits and give that error message. Clicking on the “yes” option in that error message does not save the post/page with your edits. Regardless the justification for that feature, it doesn’t seem very well thought out or tested.

  • The problem with this error is there are so many things it could be.

If you could describe exactly what you’re doing when it happens, that may help.

    First, clear cookies/cache/history/etc.

Next, I would start with disabling all plugins, re-enable one by one to see if one triggers the problem. Do the same thing with the theme. Install the latest 2014 or 2015 if you need a “default” theme.

If none of those help, let me know and we’ll go from there.

I’m just editing or creating pages. Tested all the plugins and themes already, those haven’t changed at all. This started happening more often with the newer versions of WordPress. I get that it is a security feature, but the nonce timeouts are happening too frequently when all I’m doing is editing the content of pages or products in WooCommerce. I get the login dialog, log in, finish my edits, hit save and boom. Have to redo all my edits.

This might be a good feature for the casual blogger who won’t be in the back end often, but for advanced users it sucks. Wish there was a way to edit the nonce settings.
