# Are wordpress plugins ‘derivative works’?

 * Hi,
 * Under the terms of the GPL, should we consider WordPress plugins to be derivative
   works? Or can we release them under proprietary licenses?
 * I know this is a legal grey area. I just wanted to know the intention of the 
   core WordPress team.
