# Are usernames required?

 * I’m setting up Ultimate Member for the first time.
 * Is it possible to eliminate the use of Usernames completely and only require 
   users to register with and login with a unique email address?
 * I’m creating a custom Registration form and I see can add the field “Username
   or Email”, and there is a way to relabel it to read “Email”. I guess this would
   take the place of the standard Email field.
 * I’m not sure if this would work or if it would cause problems.
 * I’m not sure but I’m hoping there is also a way to change the Login page to only
   read “Email” and not “Username or Email”.

 * Hi. You should be able to accomplish this. You could always test it out by creating
   a custom login and registration form with just the email field. I would suggest
   that for any of your forms, you copy the Default form and leave the Default forms(
   those created when you install UM) as-is. With a copy, you can make any changes
   you need and just use the shortcode in your page.
