Support » Fixing WordPress » Are there any guides on how to migrate blogger to local wordpress server?

  • Google is not being much of help so I come here. I want to move my blogger site to localhost wordpress on system, make a lot of changes and then push the site live. But all the guides I saw only talk about direct migration to a hosted live site.

How do I migrate to my local server in such a way that when I push my site live I don’t lose any SEO juice? Can someone refer me a guide on this or suggest any solutions or advice?

    Thank you

You can import a Blogger site to a locally hosted site in exactly the same way you’d import it to a internet hosted site.

Using a plugin like ‘Simple 301 redirect’, make a list of the top X links to your site that show in Google and set up redirects to the new URLs. When you push the site to a live host, Google will accept the 301s and (eventually) update its index.

Thank you. Which permalink structure should I use to retain the SEO link juice from Blogger?

I have read conflicting opinions on this.

    Some guides mention using

/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html (custom but identical to blogger’s permalink structure)

I don’t use blogger, but if that permalink structure gives you the same or similar URLs, use it.
