 * I am upgrading to a new version of wordpress, a new theme, and lots of other
   goodies. I want to completely wipe my current wordpress installation, but I need
   to know if it is okay to do so. Are my posts tied to the MySQL database or the
   wordpress files themselves?
 * Please get back to me!

 * Your Posts (and Pages) are all stored in the MySQL database.
 * Might have a look at [Upgrading_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress).

 * So it is safe to wipe the rest of my wordpress installation?

 * You’d probably want to save any plugins you plan to continue to use and your
   wp-config.php file… but sure, you can whack the rest.

 * Alright. What about image/file uploads that I still need?

 * 🙂 Good point. Presumably, that’s all under wp-content/uploads.
 * If we’re “just” doing an upgrade, I’d suggest checking the upgrade link I gave
   earlier.

 * The thing is — I really, really messed up my access to wp-admin by changing the
   link of the blog. We are updating for my website’s second anniversary, and now
   I can’t access the admincp.
 * I was trying to make it to where visitors of the site couldn’t see the blog so
   I could work on it in the background… but now I royally messed up.
