Support » Themes and Templates » Are HTML5 and CSS3 a good idea?

  • I am thinking of purchasing a premium WP theme (Responz by Themify), which advertises that it is “Coded with HTML5 & CSS3”. Is this a good idea?

The information I can see on the web is quite confusing, but it seems that browser support is inconsistent, and older versions of IE are still common, and don’t support much of these at all.

Will all themes using HTML5 & CSS3 be coded so that non-compliant browsers default to an acceptable page layout?

    Thanks

  • Good idea? they are the future. Any good premium theme author will make his theme compatible with IE and non-supporting browsers, and that should be indicated by him in the theme features page. So, IE may not support HTML5/CSS3 fully, but any premium theme using these should using special browser targeting in their code.

    Cheers,
