Archives not linking to post

    Hi,
    On my archives page I have a category list which is linking to the correct posts, but the monthly archives are not. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to share the website url.
    I created a page called ‘Archives’ and set that page to have the ‘Archive page’ template.
    When I click on a Monthly Archives link, the Archives page is returned with the post title at the top and instead of the post excerpt being displayed, it shows the title then another Category and Archives list.
    I’m not sure how to fix this and any help would be very appreciated.

    what is the file name for that page template?

    there are some file names reserved for the general template hierarchy. http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy

    just make sure you don’t have a file name conflict.

    I changed the file name and changed the template name. I’m pretty sure there’s a problem with the loop because of the strange outcome.

    The category archive is ok. But when I click on a ‘Monthly Archive’ entry there is a problem. An example under ‘Monthly Archive’ would be if I clicked on a link called ‘Words (3)’ then the title of Word #1 is listed and under that is the ‘Categories’ list and the ‘Monthly Archives’ list. Then the title of Word #2 is listed and under that is the ‘Categories’ list and the ‘Monthly Archives’ list, etc.

    Any other ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated.
