# Archives 404 error

 * First off sorry if it’s been covered before but I just can’t figure it out.
 * I’m using wp_get_archives to list monthly archives in a dropdown, but it results
   in a 404.
 * It’s on a custom post type and so using [this](http://bajada.net/2010/07/15/adding-custom-post-types-to-wp_get_archives)
   to allow custom posts which works fine but for the 404.
 * If i use wp_get_archives to ‘list’ posts it works (no 404). I’ve tried resetting
   the permalinks to default etc. no joy.
 * Essentially the problem I’m having is url [http://www.mysite.com/2012/04](http://www.mysite.com/2012/04)
   or similar just won’t work.
 * Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?
