archive pages no longer populating/Next Previous not functioning

  • Recently changed themes and now my archive page no longer lists posts. Archives work fine in the sidebar widget. I reactivated other themes to see if the archive page would repopulate and some of those worked as expected, some (I believe the newer themes) would not list posts on my “archive page”. Also the template box does not appear when trying to edit the page or recreate it when using the newer themes.

    Also, the next page/previous page is not functioning. Clicking “next page” produces a url of “page 2” but the actual content does not change.

    @blondishnet

    Your archive pages lists posts. Clicked an example from May 2010 – http://lisamikulski.com/blog/2010/05/

    Woohoo! Another faulty loop.

    You need to replace your Custom WP_Query with the loop. http://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop I just had this issue with another person’s blog and you really do not need to have a custom loop especially if you are display the most recent posts. Just adjust your Reading settings in your WordPress admin panel to display the number of posts you want on a page.

    This will fix your pagination issues with Next and Previous. Once you do that… you might want to consider putting WP-PageNavi plugin. Example of it in action – http://blondish.net (after the posts)… in my loop, I am displayed the first full post and 7 excerpts.

    Thank you
