Archive page not working

  • I am very in very unfamiliar territory when dealing with php, so I was wondering if someone could help me figure out why my archive page doesnt show any categories or dates. My website is http://www.soulseed.com and the help would be very appreciated.

    @handysolo

It appears to be working. Did you fix it already?

Well the category and dates are on my sidebar, but shouldnt they be on the actual archives page too? sorry if its a dumb question, im very very new to this.

If I click on your September link, I see ” Archive for September, 2006″ in big bold text at the top of that page. Isn’t that what you want?

I guess the OP is referring to http://www.soulseed.com/?page_id=8
but I’m not familiar with that theme, so I don’t know what to expect there…

ah. yeah. Looks like it’s intended to have an archive plugin there.

yeah thanks moshu, i should have linked the archive page i was refering to, sorry…

so is the archive page dependant on the theme? im using k2 with a style addon if that makes any difference

It does (make a difference). Have no idea what code is in that Page template and what is supposed to display.

heres the only files i could find that had archive in them

    archive.php

It reads like greek to me, but hopefully one of you can please tell me if one of these is the right file and if i need to put something in to make categories and dates show up on the http://www.soulseed.com/?page_id=8 page…

    1. Don’t post long code here – it doesn’t display correctly and nobody ever bothers to take a look at it.
1a. Paste your long code always to http://wordpress.pastebin.ca and post back the URI
    2. For short code line there is always the “backtick” ` (probably where the ~ is)
    3. I am afraid this is not the one. Do you have a template file called archives.php, with S at the end?

thanks for the tip i didnt know about pastebin.ca

oddly enough there isnt an archives.php in there… another strange thing is that when i try to edit the archives page through the admin panel all it has is ‘Do not edit this page’ is there any way i can find out what php file this is pointing to so i can post that?

and thanks for the persistant help mods, I know I can be a bit of a pain 😉

Look, K2 is a bit more than a simple theme – many people consider it a “modification” of WP.
You should read all the details here: http://getk2.com/about/
To be honest, I am not interested to learn about it…

Alright thanks, I didnt know k2 changed wordpress or I would have been looking for help elsewhere. As I said, I am very new to this all.
