Archive and Sidebar Widgets?

  • This is probably a stupid question, but I’m having trouble figuring out how to point the “Archive” sidebar widget to where my archive actually is, which is now in a theme folder. Where would I find this?

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

  • I am afraid there are some misunderstandings here…
    1. You cannot ever point/link directly to any of the template files in your theme folder.
    2. If I remember well, the “archive” in the sidebar will display the list of months when you have posts – and clicking on those month names will take you to the monthly archives listing.
    3. What is in your theme folder that you were referring to?

Fixed. The problem was that the theme I was using (Yaletown) had a line referring to “the_archive” instead of “the_content”–so that clicking on the archive button was bringing the page back to itself (which, of course, had nothing on it). The sidebar widget was pointing to the right place, but in that place was a bogus definition.

    Thanks anyway!
