• Hi all.

I’ve started a brand new site and are aiming to do it the right way from the start.

I have a big set of sports data and would like to present this for the user the best way. Since I would like to focus on the dataquality instead of the wordpress blogging is my plan to create one page/post showing a player, another page/post showing a team and a third page/post for each game.

I would prefer if its possible to maintain only 3 pages. And generate the content of the page based on the two teams related to the game or such. That way would I be able to develop more in dept analysis for the users by adding new querys.

To summarize the initial questions I have,

    1.)
Would it be possible to create and stick to maintaining only 3 pages/posts for this purpose? Would it be a custom post/page or is there a better solution?

    2.)
Where would I hide the sql scripts containing one or multiple arguments from the page/post? custom fields? custom queries?

Are there any downside by the way I’m thinking? SEO? Should I start to consider taxonimies, wp categories and custom fields at this point?

If there would be any plugins you would recomend or articles around simular structure please let me know,

I’ve seen multiple “movie-database” articles but I’m not sure if that would be a sustainable way if more arguments later would be added to the analysis (create page based on teams, players involved and geographic place)

Best Regards and thanks for all knowledge you can share.
    /Viktor

  • If you only want three pages, why are you considering the WordPress platform? It’s much cleaner doing custom database programming in a php/html based site rather than doing it in a WordPress site, so I’m not sure what you’re seeing as the upside to using WordPress to create the site.
