Is there a “best practice” way to assign your secondary domains to your hosting account. (This is a multisite using subfolders, 2 of which will have unique domain names, separate from the primary.)

On my personal hosting account, I have “parked” the additional domains and they are working beautifully.

I am doing this on the production site also, and it works, however, the host does not let me create an SSL certificate on a parked domain and I need to have them all use SSL. But when I make them “add-on” domains the host does not allow me to change what directory they point to (I need them to point to the primary for the mapping to work. The client bought the hosting and I am finding it very restrictive.

Can anyone point me to documentation about best practices?

    Thanks in Advance.

  • What yu’re doing now is as close to best practice as there is. The only thing that you are having problsm with is the SSL certificates, which is outside the scopeof these forums. But… I’d be talking to your hostng company, and if they can’t allow SSL’s for parked and add-on domains, find another one that can.

Thank you. I just wanted to confirm this before I called them (hosting).
    I appreciate your input.
