 * Howdy Andrij. Congratulations on the amazing update of Better Messages v3! 😊
   🥳❤️
It looks terrific with a lot of meaningful changes. Looking forward to trying
out the new voice and video feature. Offline upload defer and cache management
are a wonderful treat! So many nice additions.
 * When changing the following setting, nothing changes on the frontend and always
   displays:
**Appearance > Interface elements > My profile in the user menu**When
disabled ‘My profile’ (link to username) displays in the lower left corner to
the left of BM user settings icon in messages main view. Because I already having
a floating menu with username + avatar it doesn’t make sense to show again for
   my case.
 * Warm regards.

 * Hi, Josh!
Thanks for the kind words about 3.0, and for the detailed report.
 * I checked this on 3.0.3 and the switch itself is working: with Appearance → Interface
elements → My profile in the user menu off, the “My profile” row is gone from
the menu that opens when you click your avatar at the bottom of the conversation
   list.
 * I think we may be talking about two different things, though. That setting only
removes the My profile row inside that popup menu. It does not remove the avatar
and username strip itself, which is the thing sitting in the lower left next
to the settings cog. From your description — that it duplicates a floating menu
already showing your username and avatar — I suspect the strip is what you want
gone, and there is no switch for that yet. I can add one.
 * Could you confirm with a screenshot of the corner in question? If the “My profile”
row really is still listed in the popup after saving, the most likely cause is
page caching. Better Messages prints its settings into the page HTML, so a cached
page keeps the old values until the cache is purged. Clearing your caching plugin’s
cache and doing a hard reload should settle it.
   Thanks!

 * “I think we may be talking about two different things, though. That setting only
removes the My profile row inside that popup menu.”
 * I forgot to mention within **layout** tab:
Appearance → Layout → Interface elements
   → My profile
 * Here’s a screenshot of what I’m wanting to hide. There is a red circle in the
   lower left corner:

 * There is no cache plugin enabled, cleared browser cache. In admin preview it
too shows no change when unchecking the setting. Curious if this is within the
popup you mention or in a specific view?
   Warm regards.

 * You were right and I was wrong about it being a separate thing — thank you for
   pushing back with the screenshot.
In 2.0 that strip was drawn only when the menu
behind it had something in it. The menu can hold three things — the points balance,
My profile and the user statuses — and with all three off the whole avatar and
name block was not rendered at all, leaving just the settings button. On your
site there is no WebSocket, so no user statuses, and no points, which means switching
My profile off in 2.0 removed exactly what you circled. 3.0 kept the strip on
screen and only stopped it responding to clicks. That was a regression, not a
setting you were missing.3.0.6 gives it a switch of its own: Appearance → Layout
→ Interface elements → Account row. Turn it off and the strip goes, in the conversation
list, in the collapsed rail and in the mini widget, with the settings button
left behind exactly as 2.0 did it.One thing to know: while that menu still has
something in it the switch tells you so instead of applying, and the row shows
a short note. That is deliberate rather than a bug — the strip is the only way
into the menu, so hiding it while the statuses live there would leave members
no way to set their status. With My profile already off on your site the switch
   will bite straight away.

 * [@andrij](https://wordpress.org/support/users/andrij/). Thank you very much for
the thorough replies and the new option to hide the username. Lot of great changes
this week which too are appreciated. 😊
