 * I cant remove from Appearance field Customize. There is not any field to remove
   Customize. I am using wp 4.0 and Advanced Access Manager 2.8.3.
    Thanks

 * I’m having the same issue. It looks like WordPress 4.0 changed the URL names
   of the Themes and Customize links under the appearance menu so AAM is not properly
   removing them from the menu of users. Looks like AAM probably needs an update.
   Maybe the author could clarify, but thats what it looks like is happening to
   me.

 * [@kyawzinwin](https://wordpress.org/support/users/kyawzinwin/) the last post
   in the link you provided works but it is applied to all roles. It would be nice
   to be able to do this via the AAM system and have it applied only to a specific
   role if needed. This solution needs to be applied in functions.php and not everyone
   is up to that.

 * I found it, for my setup anyway. I went into capabilities and filtered the results
   by “backend interface” and unchecked almost everything because my user role didnt
   all of that but i think the option that disabled “appearance” all together in
   the menu was “Edit Themes” or one of those.
