 * You have to sign up for an account on WordPress.com. After signing up, visit 
   your Global Dashboard and click on Your Profile under the Profile section. Your
   WordPress.com API key will be located at the top of the page.

 * Evidently this is not true anymore. I have wordpress 2.8 and I cannot find my
   api key listed anywhere in my profile.
