Support » Fixing WordPress » Fetch data from money transfer companies?

  • Hello fellow WordPressers!

As a not so experienced developer, I’d like to ask for some guidance on the following:

    1. How hard would it be to connect to the API’s of several money transfer companies, such as TransferWise, to fetch real-time data from them and then display it on my site? See TransferWise’s API for your reference: https://api-docs.transferwise.com/#affiliates-integration-guide
    2. How would you approach this?
    3. Tips? Recommendations?

What I want to achieve is the following:
    1. Users enter their preferred transfer (i.e. $200.00 from US to £XX.00 in GB)
    2. Data from the connected APIs are requested
    3. The result from the API calls are displayed in a table, sorted in descending order based on the amount received (i.e. cheapest alternative at the top).

I manage to do this in a bubble.is app somewhat successfully, so I could host the “comparison engine” on a subdomain, but I’d rather migrate that part to WP as well, if possible.

I’m happy to provide more information if needed and thanks a ton in advance for your help and time! 🙂

    Cheers,
    Lowe Regefalk

Make sure your server has the cURL module available. You can build all the required functionality into a custom page template. Use json_decode() to parse the returned data into a PHP array structure. There are a number of array sorting options available for PHP. Once the data is sorted the way you want, loop through the array and generate the desired output.
