 * Hi there,
I’m having serious problems with my install of wordpress or maybe
its the apache server i’ve got running. the apache server is: XAMPP 1.4.9 with…
Apache HTTPD 2.0.52, PHPMyAdmin 2.6.0 pl1 my problems is that I can’t login to
my local wordpress install to edit or write or infact do anthing. I can view
my index.php, so it’s not an wp-config issue. Here is the error code i get from
windows when i try to login: AppName: apache.exe AppVer: 2.0.52.0 ModName: php5ts.
dll ModVer: 5.0.2.2 Offset: 000360fd See the thing is I was logged in (this took
a looooong time to do, about 50 attemps) and when I was logged in, I could click
on the ‘Edit this’ link on the post and get into wordpress that way…. but I’ve
been logged out for some reason and I can’t get back in. It’s driving me insane!
If I was to reinstall the apache server, would I lose my databases? Any guidence
   much appreciated. Thanks, Mez

 * What version of WordPress are you using? From your error message, it looks like
you’ve got PHP5 loaded and I think you’ll need to be using the [nightly builds](http://wordpress.org/nightly/)
in order for WP to work with your server.

 * Thanks for the quick reply.
I’m using version 1.2. Just about to install v1.21(
mingus) to see if that fixes the problem. What are these ‘nightly builds’? Should
I not bother with 1.21 but go for one these nightly ones instead?

 * Nightly builds are test versions of WP 1.3. They’re not recommended for production
environments but they’re the latest/greatest stuff from the developers. I’ve
seen other posts in these forums that people have had problems with WP 1.2.x
on PHP5 and –from what I can remember– most of them switched to a nightly build
of WP 1.3 to get around whatever problems they were having. Of course, there
are far more knowledgable people on these boards that might have other solutions
   for you as well.

 * FWIW. Mezhopking, if you’r running XAMP, they have a quick script that can switch
your PHP back to 4.3.9. See their documentation depending on OS you’re running.
To keep my production site WP 1.2 running, I had to switch back to PHP 4.x.
